Volunteers assisting with the VITA/TCE Programs come from all walks of life: working professionals, retirees, college and high school students, IRS employees, and people who just want to help in their communities. Start your journey by sending us your basic information, and we will contact you to get you started.

The IRS peak period for recruiting volunteers is October through January.

You Can Help Us Help Others

Make a difference in your community and learn an equitable skill at the same time when you participate in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) Programs you will receive training to provide free tax help for low-to-moderate income families who need assistance preparing their tax returns. 

As a volunteer, you will join the thousands of others who each year prepare millions of tax returns at thousands of tax sites nationwide. Training is offered both online and in the classroom. Tax sites are generally open nights and weekends, and the hours are flexible.
